In 2014, the Indiegogo Life was launched, offering people the chance to raise money for emergencies, medical expenses, celebrations, or other life events. Indiegogo Life does not charge platform fees.

• Indiegogo allows anyone to post a project, in over 200 countries.

◙ WHO IS INDIEGOGO

• Indiegogo was founded in 2008 by Danae Ringelmann, Slava Rubin and Eric Schell and is based in San Francisco, California.
• Indiegogo allows anyone who has an idea to raise funds in order to finance their goal. The method used is rewards-based crowdfunding, meaning donors finance a project in its early stages and receive a gift. However, Indiegogo is interested in adding also equity crowdfunding.

◙ INDIEGOGO COST OF SERVICES

• Indiegogo is free to sign up, to create and to contribute to a campaign.
• When a campaign raises funds, Indiegogo charges a 9.0% fee on the funds raised. If the goal is reached, initiators get 5.0% back. Therefore successful campaigns are charged an overall fee of 4.0%.
• Registered nonprofits {501(c)(3)} receive a reduction of 25% in Indiegogo fees.

◙ WITHDRAW FUNDS FROM INDIEGOGO

Funds can be received via various payment methods, including Paypal:

• CREDIT CARDS

Funds raised via credit cardare sent to any bank account within 15 business days after the deadline. Note that it can take 3-5 business days for funds to arrive in your bank account.

• PAYPAL

Funds raised via PayPal are debited in a PayPal account within 15 business days after the deadline.

• NON-PROFIT

Funds raised for verified non-profit campaigns follow the same disbursement schedule in InDemand as they do with live campaigns with one slight change: We will send a 3.75% rebate within 15 days of the campaign’s deadline to FirstGiving, and every four weeks thereafter for any new funds raised. FirstGiving disburses funds to the non-profit organization on a monthly basis.
